Madden/Forza

So about 3 weeks ago I won a Twitter contest from Anthony Stevenson, the Madden NFL Sr. Product Manager. Took him a bit to get it sent out, but the wait was well worth it!

While I was waiting, I asked if he could get some people at EA Tiburon to sign it. I told him I had a copy of Madden 10 for 360 already so I would much rather a personal collectors item. So in the mail today, I received my signed copy of Madden 10 for PS3, signed by the Sr. Product Manager, the Art Director, the Lead Designer, and the Sr. Producer. Being a huge Madden fan, I was quite happy to receive it. Read more… »

After my first week with Goozex I wish I could have brought myself to become a member of this game trading community a long, long time ago. As you can see from my home theater setup, I have a ton of PS2/Gamecube/PS1 games and that isn’t even all of them.  Oh, and Josh, I am the same way as you. All games alphabetized and furious if it doesn’t go back in its case after being played.

I am the type of gamer that holds onto all of his games for one reason or another. I’m not even sure why I am that way to be completely honest. Some are in my backlog, some I just loved so much I can’t bring myself to get rid of them.

This is what I call my video game separation anxiety. Even as I put these gems of my collection (i.e. Skies of Arcadia) in an envelope and ship them off, I have second thoughts. But I have kept them long enough. And they aren’t getting played. I even have a TV in another room setup entirely for old-school gaming. While fun at first, it hasn’t been used much since. How far we have come in gaming. Gone are the days when the enjoyment of beating a level or beating a game were all we expected. Now, if it doesn’t come with achievements or trophies the first response is “WTF?” And I will admit, I am slowly starting to become one of those people and it scares me.

Today I looked at my backlog, which is ungodly long, and I was in the mood for a good, deep RPG. Easy choice in my backlog list, Oblivion Game of the Year Edition for the PS3. But what dawned on me as I have neglected getting back into this game was, “oh noes… no trophies!”

Now I have the idea in the back of my mind to completely neglect my PS3 version and borrow from a friend or rent the 360 version. At what point did I find the need for something like this? I really can’t let myself become a person that thinks a game is less of a game without trophies. Must squash this thought! Read more… »

jorrel56Hey!  Kevin Miller here.  Just joined the Gamer Limit staff and very much looking forward to providing the Gamer Limit community with iPhone reviews, console reviews, news, features, etc.  I am a 25 year old software engineer with a Computer Science degree and Mathematics minor from Virginia Tech.  Hence software engineer by day and a hardcore gamer by night as the title of the blog.

I started playing games with my older brother on the Atari when I was 3 years old and have been hooked ever since.  Over the years I have played and owned just about every console and every handheld you can think of.  Favorite console is hands down the Nintendo with Dreamcast a close second.  Favorite handheld is a toss up between Neo Geo Pocket Color and Game.com.  Favorite video game is The Legend of Dragoon for the Playstation.  Despite my affinity for RPG games I enjoy just about any genre there is.
